ABOUT THE ARTIST
After working as a graphic artist for a local newspaper for 17 years, Jo recently decided to retire to go back to her first love....ART.  Her Fine Arts education came from Munson Williams Proctor/Pratt Institute, which included: Two Dimensional Design, Portraiture, Figure Painting, Advanced Painting and Printmaking. Jo obtained her degree in  Advertising/Design/Production from Mohawk Valley Community College in New York.

She has been painting in watercolor, oil and acrylics for many years and has exhibited extensively throughout  New York State and has received numerous awards for her watercolor paintings. Her paintings have been in the Master's Division at Old Forge, NY where she also received the Uzdavinis Memorial Award in 1978.

Jo is one of the original founders of the Central New York Watercolor Society that was founded in 1982.
She has given several portraiture demonstrations for the Utica Art Association and a watercolor workshop at the Old Forge Art Center in upstate New York.

As a member of the Portrait Society of America, she attended the Washington, DC Conference in 2000.
Jo had the benefit of receiving a critique from the renowned Daniel Greene. This painting also was featured in their "The Art of the Portrait" quarterly newsletter in 2001.

She now teaches four watercolor classes in her community so it is hard to say that she is retired.
